RULES AND REGULATIONS


Crystal Leaf 2010
Canadian Open Dancesport Championships
RELEASE OF INDEMNIFICATION
  • No RESPONSIBILITY for LOSS or THEFT of articles left in changing rooms, ballrooms or hotel rooms can be accepted by the Organizer, CDF, CADA, OADA or IDSF and neither can the Organizer, CDF, CADA, OADA or IDSF be held liable for injuries sustained by persons attending or participating in Crystal Leaf 2010 Canadian Open Dancesport Championships and 2010 IDSF World Dancesport hampionships, however caused. Every one attending does so at his or her own risk. All persons attending this event do so at his/her own risk, have their own medical insurance to cover any needed medical expenses and are bound by all CDF, CADA, OADA
    and IDSF rules.
 
GENERAL
  • Smoking is not permitted in the ballroom and foyer.
  • Dress Code for spectators in effect: DAYTIME : Casual (No Jeans or Sweats) – EVENING: Semi-formal or formal.
  • Hotel room cancellations require a 48 hour notice.
 
PHOTOGRAPHY & VIDEOGRAPHY
  • VIDEOTAPING is strictly prohibited during all Crystal Leaf 2010 and IDSF events.
  • All photos and videos will be taken by GSR Studio and can be ordered on the premises.

FORMS & PAYMENTS
  • Please read Event Rules, Policies and Syllabus carefully before signing and submitting entry forms and payments.
  • Mail signed TV and media release form, all entries and packages with payment in full by cheque or money order in Canadian dollar payable to: “Crystal Leaf International”, 24 MARTIN ROSS AVENUE UNIT 6,
    TORONTO, ONTARIO, M3J 2K8, CANADA.
 
CANCELLATION and REFUND POLICY
  • Cancellation must be in writing and made prior to March 15th, 2010 and will receive a refund 30 days after the event and will be charged a cancellation fee of $125. Cancellation made after March 15th, 2010 will NOT receive a refund. Cancelled entries taken at the event cannot be substituted by another entry and no refund will be made on such a cancellation. No refunds will be made for ADMISSION TICKETS OR PASSPORTS. All tickets and package sales are FINAL.
 
ENTRY
  • Please read Event Rules, Policies and Syllabus carefully before submitting entries and payments.
  • No faxed or email entries accepted.
  • No refund after March 15th, 2010.
  • The Organizer, Crystal Leaf Dancesport Championships, reserves the right to deny any entries made after March 15th, 2010.
  • You will receive a CONFIRMATION of your entries by Email. Please check to ensure there are no mistakes.
  • Final Schedule will be posted online after April 12th, 2010.
  • Teachers will receive their Heat list at the registration desk on the day of the competition.
  • Late entries or changed entries will not be counted towards Top Teacher, Top Studio Awards. Competitor’s number left at the Registration desk 60 minutes before the event will be considered as a NO SHOW!
 
JUDGES
  • 38 Judges from around the world including Asia, Europe, USA and Canada are participating in the Crystal Leaf 2010 Canadian Dancesport Open Championships.
 
ENTRY DEADLINE: March 15th, 2010
 
COMPETITORS
  • It is each competitor's RESPONSIBILITY to be present at least 60 MINUTES IN ADVANCE of the scheduled time advertised. Exact start times subject to change without notice.
  • The organizer, Crystal Leaf Dancesport Championships Inc. reserves the right to deny changes to competition entries at the event.
  • Changes of competition categories will not be permitted at the event. However, if changes are necessary there will be a $5 charge.
  • The Organizer reserves the right to modify the schedule if necessary.
  • No competitor shall harass or question a judge.
  • In any event with less than 3 entries, the organizer reserves the right to eliminate and merge competitors into one open division.
  • A panel of invigilators will be used for all restricted syllabus categories. These categories will be strictly supervised and competitors committing infractions will be disqualified.
  • Lifts will not be permitted in open and closed events.
  • All competitors or their legal guardians must sign and return the TV and media release form to be eligible to compete. Competitors under 19 years of age MUST have this release signed by a parent or legal guardian.
  • Competitors entering Crystal Leaf Championships shall accept as final the individual markings of the Judges.
  • Anti-Doping for IDSF events: Doping control tests may be conducted by the IDSF. All IDSF competitors may be subject to random drug testing. For more information on doping procedures and prohibited substances, see
    the IDSF website at www.idsf.net or www.olympic.org.

AMATEUR COMPETITORS
  • Dancesport events are sanctioned and/or recognized by CADA, OADA and IDSF affiliated. Rules of these organizations will apply to all amateur competitors. See www.dancesport.ca, www.ontariodancesport.com or www.idsf.net for rules and dress code.
  • INTERNATIONAL STYLE costumes for all amateurs dancers: all amateurs competitions must abide by the CADA /OADA dress code. In the IDSF events the IDSF dress code will be used.
  • All amateur couples dancing in the International style DanceSport events must be currently registered with CADA, OADA or IDSF affiliated organizations and must supply the Organizer, Crystal Leaf Dancesport Championships Inc., with an official association registration number on the entry forms. Entry forms without
    official registration number will be refused!
  • All AMATEUR COMPETITORS must be members of CADA for Canadian competitors or registered members of IDSF or IDSF affiliated association.
  • In Amateur PRE-BRONZE, BRONZE and SILVER, figures, including arms & dance positions as well, are restricted to the ISTD or CDF SYLLABUS.
  • In the AMATEUR GOLD CATEGORY, figures are restricted to the ISTD or CDF SYLLABUS.
  • Youth couples are allowed to participate in adult competitions.
  • Amateur Age Categories:
    • Juvenile : Reached 11th birthday or less in the calendar year
    • Junior: Reached 15th birthday or less in the calendar year.
    • Youth: Reached 16th, 17th or 18thbirthday in the calendar year.
    • Adult: 1 partner reached 19th birthday or more in the calendar year.
    • Under 21: Reached 16th, 17th, 18th or 19th birthday in the calendar year.
    • Senior 1: Both partners reached 35th birthday or more in the calendar year.
    • Senior 2: Both partners reached 45th birthday or more in the calendar year.
    • Senior 3: One partner must reach his/her 55th birthday or more and the other partner must reach his/her 45th birthday in the calendar year.
 
PROFESSIONAL COMPETITORS
  • All PROFESSIONAL COMPETITIONS are sanctioned by CDF. PROFESSIONAL COMPETITORS MUST BE REGISTERED with CDF for Canada or with a recognised professional body for competitors from countries
    other than Canada.
  • All PROFESSIONAL COMPETITIONS must supply the Organizer, Crystal Leaf Dancesport Championships Inc., with an official registration number on the entry forms! Entry forms without official association registration number will be refused!
  • PROFESSIONAL RISING STAR is open to all professionals who have not won the RISING STAR or made the final in the OPEN division in the same style at Crystal Leaf Dancesport Championships in the previous year.
  • In the instance of a professional competition where three (3) couples or less are competing in a category, the cash prize will be reduced by one half.
  • To be eligible for the prize money, the requirements published on the Prize Money webpage of the website, http://www.crystalleafinternational.com, must be met.
 
PRO-AM, AMATEUR SOCIAL & AMERICAN STYLE COMPETITORS

General

  • Couples competing in the Social/American style division DO NOT need to be registered with any association and DO NOT need any membership card!
  • PRO-AM STUDENTS DO NOT need membership card or be registered with any ASSOCIATION
  • The teacher dancing with a Pro-Am student must be registered as a PROFESSIONAL and have a membership card from CDF for Canadians or a recognised professional body for competitors from countries other than
    Canada.
  • AGE DIVISION FOR PRO-AM:
    • JA- (12 AND UNDER)
    • JB- (13-15)
    • U21-( 16-21)
    • A - (19-30)
    • A1- (31-40)
    • B - (41-50)
    • B1- (51-60)
    • C - (61-70)
    • C1- (71 AND OVER)
  • American Style and International Style Dress Code for Pro/Am: Costumes are permitted at any level.
  • There will be NO SUBSTITUTING of a student for another student. Only registered students can compete.
  • Two teachers dancing with one student are entered as a regular exhibition routine. It is NOT possible to compete in the same heat with two students.
  • NEWCOMERS: Open only to students who have never competed before. Students can compete only once in that category.
  • PRO-AM: Separate divisions for LADIES & GENTLEMEN except Championships and Scholarships.
  • Pro-Am only - Costumes may be worn at any level.
  • SINGLE DANCE, Ladies and Gentlemen students will be judged separately. CHAMPIONSHIPS, SCHOLARSHIPS and 10 dance, Ladies and Gentlemen will be merged. The Pro-Am student competing in the 10 dance, must have the same teacher for all dances.
  • Pro-Am & Amateur American/ International OPEN one dance events (ONLY) are not restricted syllabus competitions.
  • The first three of every Pro-Am Single Dance category will receive prizes. All FINALISTS of DanceSport SERIES Scholarships and Championships will receive prizes.
 
Pro-Am International Style
  • Steps should be from CDF, ISTD or NDCA syllabus only.
  • Pro-Am & Amateur Am./ Int. closed one dance events are restricted syllabus competitions.
  • See entry form for the categories for Pro-Am amateur international style.
 
Pro-Am American Style
  • Steps will be accepted from the following Syllabus: ARTHUR MURRAY Social Syllabus, FRED ASTAIRE Social Syllabus, CDTA Social Syllabus, DVIDAD, CDTA, FLDQ/CPDDSQ Social Syllabus, ALLIANCE Social Syllabus or the Social Syllabus of any recognized Professional Association.

Solo Exhibition
  • Solo exhibition critique sheets and scores will be available to studio personnel at the registration desk. No Solo
    Exhibition is to exceed three (3) minutes. Music will be faded out after three (3) minutes. Two amateurs
    dancing together may enter in the Solo Exhibition competition.

The Organizer of Crystal Leaf Championships reserves the right to reject any entry which has been submitted by a Competitor after the deadline and who has been disrespectful towards the Officials and/ or these Regulations.
